Public Talk: Ilonggo Cuisine – Recollections and Recipes by Professor Pia Arboleda

Join us for an exciting public talk on Ilonggo Cuisine, hosted by the Filipino Language and Culture Program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Professor Pia Arboleda, a renowned scholar in Filipino and Philippine Culture, will take us on a culinary journey exploring the rich traditions of Ilonggo cuisine.

In this talk, Professor Arboleda will cover:

  • A geographic and historical orientation of Ilonggo food
  • Traditional practices, including the story of the mamuglibod
  • Family and food memories that shape the unique culinary landscape
  • Sample recipes that highlight the distinctiveness of Ilonggo cuisine

The event will be hosted by Ms. Angeli Callo.

About the Speaker: Professor Pia Arboleda is a recipient of the UH Regent’s Medal for Excellence in Teaching and is a Professor of Filipino and Philippine Culture. She holds a Doctor of Arts in Language and Literature from De La Salle University Manila. Professor Arboleda is also a multi-media bilingual creator and an expert on folklore and indigenous culture.
