Panel Discussion: James C. Scott’s Scholarship on Southeast Asia and Beyond

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) and the Asia Working Group invite you to a special panel discussion honoring the intellectual legacy of Professor James C. Scott (1936–2024). Scott made profound contributions to the study of Southeast Asia and beyond, offering critical insights into resistance, state formation, and power in its various manifestations.
In this interdisciplinary conversation, panelists will reflect on the continued influence of Scott’s work on their own research and on the broader field of Southeast Asian studies.
