Hot Stuff: Exposing Indonesia’s Geothermal Dreams Simulcast Organized by GETSEA

March 31, 2025 11:00 AM (HST) Moore Hall 155A, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

About the Event

Join us for a special simulcast film screening and discussion of Hot Stuff, an award-winning documentary that critically examines Indonesia’s energy policies, the corporate interests tied to them, and their impact on local environments and communities. Directed by Dandhy Laksono and produced by Cypri Dale, Hot Stuff is part of a trio of Indonesian films that delve into the complex dynamics of energy politics in Indonesia.

Live Discussion with the Filmmakers

Director Dandhy Laksono and Producer Cypri Dale will join GETSEA live from the University of Michigan’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies. This event will bring together 20 universities from across North America through Zoom, allowing audiences to watch Hot Stuff simultaneously and engage in a live discussion about the film, energy policy in Indonesia, and the new Prabowo Subianto administration’s stance on local grassroots movements.
