Call for Submissions: Southeast Asia Digital Library (SEADL) Undergraduate Paper Award

The Southeast Asia Digital Library (SEADL) Undergraduate Paper Award invites submissions of original research papers in Southeast Asian Studies from undergraduate students.
Award Details
- First-place winner: Choice of two books from the Cornell University Press catalog.
- Publication Opportunity: Both first- and second-place winning papers will be published on the Southeast Asia Digital Library (SEADL) (sea.lib.niu.edu).
Applicant Eligibility
- Open to current undergraduate students enrolled at SEADL-affiliated institutions, including UH Mānoa.
- Applicants must agree that winning papers will be openly accessible and published on SEADL.
Paper Eligibility
- Papers must be in the field of Southeast Asian Studies and reference primary source materials.
- Submissions can be from a class assignment or independent study completed between Spring 2022 and Spring 2025.
- Papers should be between 2,000 and 10,000 words, excluding references.
Evaluation Criteria
Papers will be evaluated based on:
- Original research supported by the analysis of primary source materials.
- Increased consideration will be given to papers referencing materials from SEADL collections.

- Institutional affiliation
- Submission date
- Paper (as a separate PDF):
- Include title only (no author information) for blind review.
