CALL FOR APPLICATIONS DEADLINE: 15 FEBRUARY 2025

The Asia Research Institute (ARI) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications from current PhD students and new PhD recipients (awarded in 2023 or after) to participate in the 20th Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies. This forum is specifically focused on humanities and social science research relating to Southeast Asia, defined as ASEAN member countries plus East Timor.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to engage in activities with ARI’s research clusters prior to the commencement of the Forum. The Forum will be in hybrid format, comprising:

  1. Virtual Fellowship (16-20 June 2025): Skills-based sessions covering academic writing, presentation skills, and publication strategies.
  2. In-Person Graduate Student Conference (23-27 June 2025): Participants will present their research papers at the National University of Singapore.

  • Accommodation provided at NUS for six nights during the in-person conference (23-27 June 2025).

Requirements & Expectations:

  • Submit a draft paper by 30 April 2025, which will be shared with relevant research clusters.
  • Submit a full-length paper (4,000-5,000 words) by 30 May 2025.
  • Present your work at the in-person conference from 23-27 June 2025.

Papers must be original, unpublished, and not previously presented elsewhere. Applicants are encouraged to review the Frequently Asked Questions before submitting their application.

Application Procedure:
Candidates must submit their applications via the online form by 15 February 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-March 2025.
