The Asian Studies Development Program (ASDP), in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), invites applications for the 2025 Contemporary Asias Summer Institute, a four-week residential program hosted on the East-West Center campus in Honolulu from June 9 – July 4, 2025.

Program Overview
This multidisciplinary program explores recent changes in the production, structuring, and sharing of knowledge about Asian cultures and societies. It examines how these shifts can foster more collaborative and responsive knowledge communities attuned to the pluralities of Asian experiences.
- Host: Asian Studies Development Program (ASDP), East-West Center, Honolulu
- Focus: Multidisciplinary perspectives on contemporary Asia, including cultural transformations, digital humanities, and area studies
- Eligibility: College and university faculty, advanced graduate students
- Format: Residential institute with 25 participants
- Institute Leadership:

- Consultants: Barbara Andaya & Cathryn Clayton (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa)
- Stipend: $3,450 (taxable) for travel, lodging, and meals
