The International Conference on Insular Southeast Asian Studies (ICISAS) will be held in Bali on August 12-13, 2025, hosted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in collaboration with Universitas Udayana, Bali. Under the theme “Human Security in Insular Southeast Asia: Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” the conference aims to address the region’s complex challenges, including:

  • Climate Change and Disasters
  • Poverty and Socio-economic Inequality
  • Health Disparities and Food Insecurity
  • Limited Access to Education

The conference will explore opportunities in the Blue Economy and innovative approaches to resilience and risk governance, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Conference Objectives:

  • Promote interdisciplinary research linking the Blue Economy, Climate Resilience, and Human Security.
  • Foster collaborations among academia, policymakers, and practitioners for sustainable and inclusive development.
  • Enhance Southeast Asia’s contributions to global resilience through impactful publications and policy recommendations.
  • Showcase best practices, including Community-led Adaptation and Traditional Knowledge Systems.
