The Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking applications for the following positions as part of the “Perspectives on Identity, Nationality, Diasporic Affinities, and Home” (PINDAH) project, led by Dr. Erica M. Larson and Dr. Bittiandra Chand Somaiah:
1. Postdoctoral Fellow (PINDAH Project)
Application Period: January 27, 2025 – February 28, 2025
Position Details:
- Fixed-term contract of 18 months, likely starting in April/May 2025.
- The position is based in Singapore with competitive monthly remuneration.
- Open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and foreigners (with immigration clearance).
Requirements:
- PhD in anthropology, Asian studies, geography, sociology, or a related discipline.
- Research interests related to identity, social belonging, home-making, migration, and/or diaspora.
- Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (required for conducting interviews).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative research (interviews) and data analysis.
- Manage the project schedule, coordinate team communications, and contribute to project reports.
- Develop a research focus that aligns with personal expertise within the project’s scope.
