The Center for Southeast Asian Studies is excited to announce a lineup of Spring 2025 events, featuring the LuceSEA Webinar Series alongside other engaging discussions, book talks, and interdisciplinary explorations.


LuceSEA Spring 2025 Webinar Series

Theme:
Agency and Potential: Navigating through Emerging Changes and Opportunities in Southeast Asia

The LuceSEA Spring 2025 Webinar Series, co-organized by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and Michigan State University, will highlight the resilience and agency of Southeast Asian communities as they navigate pressing challenges and seize new opportunities for growth.

  1. February 5, 2025 (HST) / February 6, 2025 (SEA):
    Autocratic and Democratic Rivalry in Southeast Asia
    Explore electoral politics, democratic processes, and challenges to fair elections.
  2. March 5, 2025 (HST) / March 6, 2025 (SEA):
    Environmental Innovation and Sustainability in Southeast Asia
    Examine cutting-edge initiatives in disaster management, renewable energy, and sustainable development.
  3. April 2, 2025 (HST) / April 3, 2025 (SEA):
    Promoting Community-Centric Economy in Southeast Asia
    Investigate strategies for equitable tourism, cultural preservation, and economic diversification.
  4. April 30, 2025 (HST) / May 1, 2025 (SEA):
    Revitalizing Traditional Arts of Southeast Asia
    Learn how environmental changes intersect with traditional arts preservation and innovation.
