About the Role
The position supports Hamilton Library’s outstanding collections in Hawaiian, Pacific, and Southeast Asian studies. The Cataloging Department seeks a dynamic professional to:
- Perform original and complex copy cataloging in English, French, Southeast Asian, and Pacific languages.
- Contribute to NACO, SACO, and BIBCO programs.
- Ensure quality control of bibliographic and metadata records.
- Collaborate to enhance metadata management for digital materials.
- Support scholarly research through accurate and accessible catalog records.
Minimum Qualifications
- Librarian II: ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent; cataloging coursework or experience; ability to work independently and in teams; strong communication skills.
- Librarian III: Librarian II qualifications plus three years of professional experience and 24 post-baccalaureate credits.
- Librarian IV: Librarian III qualifications plus three years of professional experience and a second master’s degree in a specialized subject area.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proficiency with current cataloging standards (RDA, LC Classification, LCSH, MARC21).
- Experience contributing to NACO, SACO, and BIBCO programs.
- Reading knowledge of French, Southeast Asian languages, or Pacific Island languages.
- Familiarity with area studies, special collections, and indigenous knowledge systems.
