Announcement: Dr. Pia Arboleda Appointed Interim Director of UH CSEAS


The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies (UH CSEAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Pia Arboleda as Interim Director, effective January 1 through July 31, 2025.

In this role, Dr. Arboleda will oversee the Center’s academic and operational activities, ensuring alignment with its strategic goals, supporting research initiatives and programs, and fostering an inclusive environment for scholars, students, and faculty engaged in Southeast Asian Studies.

Dr. Arboleda is a Professor in the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures at UH Mānoa. She brings extensive executive leadership experience, having served as:

  • Coordinator of the Filipino and Philippine Culture Program
  • Director of the Center for Philippine Studies
  • Chair of the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures
