The 2025-26 Lee Kong Chian NUS-Stanford Fellowship on Southeast Asia is now accepting applications! This prestigious fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for scholars to conduct research on contemporary Southeast Asia while engaging with academic communities at both the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Stanford University.
About the Fellowship
Established in 2007, the Lee Kong Chian Fellowship is at the heart of the Lee Kong Chian NUS-Stanford Initiative on Southeast Asia, aimed at advancing scholarship on the region. Fellows divide their time between NUS (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and Stanford University (Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center), benefiting from the resources and academic networks of both institutions.
Key Features
- Duration: 3-4 months at NUS and 3-4 months at Stanford
- Stipend: US$8,000 per month during the fellowship period
- Travel Support: Two separate roundtrip economy-class airfares (to/from the fellow’s country of residence and each institution)
- Opportunities to present research and participate in seminars and workshops
- Intellectual exchange and networking across two world-class universities
Eligibility
- Open to scholars of any nationality or seniority with professional backgrounds in the social sciences or humanities
- Current, ongoing professional positions related to these disciplines are preferred
Fellowship Period
Appointments begin and end between September 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. The sequence and duration of residence at each campus are determined based on fellows’ preferences.
