Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program

The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) provides financial support for Master’s degree study at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) in approved fields of study. This scholarship aims to build human resource capacity in ADB’s developing member countries by enabling well-qualified citizens to gain knowledge in fields related to economics, management, science, technology, and development. Scholars are expected to apply this knowledge to promote socioeconomic development upon returning to their home countries.
Duration
Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the selected Master’s program, starting in the Fall 2025 academic year. The application cycle is biennial, with the next period running from August to December 1, 2024.
Eligibility
- Must be a citizen and current resident of an ADB developing member country.
- Must be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
- Hold a 4-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time professional work experience.
- Required English proficiency scores: TOEFL (550 PBT, 213 CBT, 79-80 iBT), DUOLINGO (95), or IELTS (6.5), taken within the last two years
