The Advanced Indonesian Abroad Program is now accepting applications for Summer 2025! This immersive language program, organized by Northern Illinois University, will be held at, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia, from June 23 to August 1, 2025.
Program Overview
This program offers an in-country immersion experience focused on advancing proficiency in the Indonesian language. Participants will engage in:
- Language instruction with experienced local teachers
- Cultural activities and weekly field trips
- Weekend excursions to explore Central Java
Eligibility
- Applicants must have intermediate-level Indonesian proficiency by June 2025.
- Graduate students
- May graduates
- Undergraduates of junior or senior standing
- Faculty members
- Teachers in elementary and secondary schools
- Educational administrators are eligible to apply.
Funding Options
Fellowship and funding options are available, including:
- Fulbright-Hays Fellowships (for U.S. citizens and permanent residents)
- FLAS fellowships, Boren fellowships, or private funding.
