Fulbright US–ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program

The Fulbright US–ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program supports university faculty, government officials, and professionals in the private sector, NGOs, and think tanks from ASEAN countries to conduct research in the United States. Scholars will engage in research that contributes to understanding the US–ASEAN relationship, with projects ideally focusing on regional issues or having regional implications for ASEAN. The goal is to strengthen ties between ASEAN nations and the United States, promoting scholarly and professional exchange on priority topics.
Program Duration
3 to 4 months (must begin between January and March 2026 and end by May 31, 2026).
Eligibility
- Must be an Indonesian citizen residing in Indonesia throughout the selection process
- University faculty, government officials, or private sector/NGO professionals with significant scholarly or professional accomplishments related to US–ASEAN topics
- Proficiency in English and good health – Must commit to returning to Indonesia upon program completion
- Preference given to candidates with minimal recent experience in the US Ineligible if an employee, close family, or dependent of an employee of AMINEF, the US Embassy, or the US Department of State, or if they have recently been in the US as a J-1 Exchange Visitor.
Amount of Funding
A monthly stipend for grantees, between US $2,710 and $3,145 per month, depending on the US city
Scholarship Benefits
- A direct-flight, round-trip economy-class air ticket
- A $1,250 Professional and Settling-in allowance
- Qualifying university lab and research fees up to $3,000, as necessary
- No dependent support will be available
