Princeton in Asia (PiA) Fellowship Program

PiA offers immersive, paid fellowships for recent graduates to work in Asia, aiming to foster mutual appreciation and cross-cultural understanding between the U.S. and Asia. Fellows are placed in a variety of sectors such as education, public health, economic development, STEM, and more.
Eligibility:
- Must hold at least a bachelor’s degree by the time the fellowship begins.
- Master’s degree holders are eligible, but individuals with terminal or professional degrees (e.g., Ph.D., law, medical degrees) are not.
- There is no age limit, and applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in English is required, especially for teaching positions, though proficiency in Asian languages is not required for most posts.
Compensation and Benefits
- Stipend: Provided by the host organization to cover housing, food, and local transportation costs.
- Health insurance: Includes travel medical and emergency evacuation insurance, International SOS membership, and mental health support.
- Additional benefits: Visa and work permit reimbursement, pre-departure training, access to Country Advisors for cultural immersion, and connection to PiA’s alumni network.
- Language grants: Available by application.
Research Field:
- Applicants may apply to conduct research that supports broad ASEAN initiatives, such as regional economic integration, AI safety and policy, carbon markets, expansion of maritime cooperation, promotion of opportunities for women, and addressing transnational challenges.
- Fields of study could include, but are not limited to: Education, Financial Market Integration, Food Technology, Information Sciences, Journalism, Law, Public Administration, Public/Global Health, and Trade and Investment.
- These programs and topics should reflect priority areas of the ASEAN Secretariat and the US Mission to ASEAN, and may also reflect priorities and relevance to the nominating country.
