2024-2025 AIFIS-CAORC Research Fellowship for U.S. Scholars to Indonesia

Purpose

To support U.S. graduate and post-graduate researchers conducting field research in Indonesia on any topic related to Indonesian studies, with an emphasis on collaboration with Indonesian counterparts and open-source content creation.

Funding

Each recipient receives a grant of up to $6,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and research expenses in Indonesia.

Eligibility

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, currently enrolled in a graduate program, or hold a Ph.D. or equivalent. Indonesian language proficiency is recommended.

Duration

The research tenure must last at least six weeks (45 days), and the research must be completed by September 30, 2025.

Other Requirements

Recipients must obtain ethical clearance and research permits from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN) and the appropriate Indonesian visa (E29). AIFIS provides guidance, but securing permits is the researcher’s responsibility.
