Celebrate Filipino American History Month with Rare Music, Dance, and Song Event by Helobung


The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is excited to invite the community to experience Helobung, a unique music, dance, and song demonstration by Indigenous Tboli artists from Mindanao, Southern Philippines. In celebration of Filipino American History Month, the Helobung ensemble will perform at UH Mānoa and Leeward Community College, offering a rare opportunity to engage with the vibrant culture of the Tboli people.

Event Details:

  • October 25, 1–3 p.m., Leeward CC Waiʻanae Moku Education Center
  • October 26, 1–3 p.m., Leeward Theatre, Leeward CC
  • October 27, 7:30 p.m., UH Mānoa, Barbara Smith Amphitheatre

The events are free and open to the public, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn Tboli movements and songs directly from the artists. We are proud to partner with Leeward CC’s Filipino Studies, Tau Dance Theatre, and ILI Dances to present this cultural celebration.
