SPAS Launches Careers in Asia-Pacific Affairs Initiative, Co-Sponsored by CSEAS
The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) is pleased to co-sponsor the Careers in Asia-Pacific Affairs (CAPA) initiative, recently launched by the School of Pacific and Asian Studies (SPAS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. This collaborative effort, funded by Title VI through the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in government, education, business, and the nonprofit sector within the Asia-Pacific region.
The initiative features a three-credit course in the Department of Asian Studies and a speaker series aimed at building connections between students and future employers. In August, CSEAS kicked off the CAPA initiative with a talk by Larry Chun, Special Agent in the Diplomatic Security Service at the U.S. Department of State, who shared insights from his unique career path in diplomacy and law enforcement.
The next speaker in the series is Mireille Zieseniss, Public Diplomacy Advisor at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, on Wednesday, September 20th, 3:00-4:30 pm HST. Her talk, Public Diplomacy: Telling America’s Story, Connecting People, and Shaping Foreign Policy, will be held in Moore 258 and online.
