Balinese Gamelan Music and Dance Resumes

We are thrilled to announce that Balinese gamelan music and dance community ensemble
rehearsals in Hawaii will resume with introductory workshops after a 2-year break due to COVID-19.

Workshops: Sundays 4:00-6:30 pm, September 18-December 11, 2022 at UH Manoa Campus (location TBD)
Co-taught by I Made Widana and Annie Revnolds

Experienced performers, beginners, and families welcome!

This workshop will focus on:

  • the basics of Balinese gamelan music, vocal music (Recak), bamboo flute (sulina), and techniques including interlocking patterns (kotekan)
  • the basics of Balinese dance, including dance repertoire in the female and male dance styles.
