Book Chapters on Filipinos in Hawai’i

In commemoration of Filipino American History Month, Professor Jonathan Okamura has posted on UH ScholarSpace a compilation of a selected number of his journal articles and book chapters on Filipinos in Hawai’i titled Filipino American Ethnicity, Education and Diaspora in Hawai’i. The collection is available at UH ScholarSpace.

A note from Professor Jonathan Y. Okamura:
Kumusta kayo,
In commemoration of Filipino American History Month, I just had posted on UH ScholarSpace a compilation of a selected number of my journal articles and book chapters on Filipinos in Hawai’i titled Filipino American Ethnicity, Education and Diaspora in Hawai’i. It includes texts published between 1983 and this year, an essay on “Systemic Racism against Filipino Americans at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa,” which I wrote as a member of the UH Manoa Commission on Racism and Bias.
The introductory chapter, “The Struggle Continues,” includes a section on “Filipino Americans, Filipino American Studies, and Philippine Studies at UH Manoa,” which provides a brief history since the early 1970s to the present of the above topics, and also Operation Manong and Pamantasan.
Best, Jon
