Passing of Dr. Kem Lowry

Our friend and colleague Dr. Kem Lowry, died Tuesday August 17, 2021. Kem was Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in 1976. Kem Lowry was part of a team of facilitators working with the Hawai’i Freshwater Initiative, a foundation-sponsored task force of water managers and experts focusing on ways to insure adequate future water supplies for Hawai’i. Kem has been a close friend, gifted colleague, whose life has been intertwined with the UH and the East-West Center for many years.
