$1M Awarded to CSEAS for Global Southeast Asia Project

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to support a groundbreaking initiative, LuceSEA Transitions: Environment, Society, and Change. Directed by CSEAS Director Miriam Stark, the project is in partnership with the East-West Center (EWC) and focuses on the socioeconomic and environmental shifts transforming Southeast Asian societies amidst climate change.

This initiative will enhance collaboration with Southeast Asia-based researchers, support workshops and training for early career researchers, and develop Open Educational Resources on environmental and agrarian issues in Southeast Asia.

We are deeply grateful to the Henry Luce Foundation for its generous support and to our Southeast Asian partners for their continued collaboration in advancing global research.
